ROSEWOOD GREEN TEAM
(Our Garden Volunteers)
We are the garden committee that remains committed toward maintaining and supporting our school garden. We are always looking to collaborate with any individuals with gardening or landscaping experience, or someone who simply enjoys working in a garden to volunteer once a week and assist with our garden classes. Classes currently meet in the garden on Tuesdays and Fridays, and we have applied for grants to purchase organic seeds and garden supplies as we get our garden beds ready for Fall and Spring planting. Commitment is no more than 1-3 hours per week. If you have a green thumb or just enjoy working outside for an hour or so with enthusiastic children, come volunteer for your child's garden class!
Your help is greatly appreciated!

ROSEWOOD'S GARDEN IS THE RECIPIENT OF 3 NEW GRANTS FOR 2024
Rosewood's garden was the recent recipient of several new grants for 2024! In late December 2023, our grant committee applied for the 2024 Youth Garden Grant - one of the most competitive national grant programs run by KidsGardening.org with an average of over 800 submissions. Since 1982, the Youth Garden Grant has supported school and youth educational garden projects that enhance the quality of life for youth and their communities. The Rosewood School Garden was chosen as a winner of this prestigious grant, earning $500 in funding towards our garden and new gardening supplies, valued at $1,000, including seeds, weed cultivator garden tools, tub trugs, grow bags, tool sets, trowels, a rain wand and new curriculum books.
In December 2023, many of our Rosewood families directly contributed to a crowdfunding campaign for the garden run through SeedMoney.org. Thanks to your donations, we were able to earn an additional $400 in bonus grants toward our garden program with a total of $2,730 raised.
In February 2024, we were informed by the Wild Ones organization that the Rosewood garden had also been named a recipient of the 2024 Lorrie Otto Seeds for Education Grant (SFE). For more than 20 years, Wild Ones has awarded SFE grants to youth-serving organizations for acquiring native plants and seeds for outdoor learning areas that engage youth (preschool to high school) directly in planning, planting and caring for native plant gardens throughout the United States. Friends of Rosewood received a total of $250 to implement our goal of increasing the garden's native plant population to help protect and restore biodiversity, help attract pollinators and learn more about how butterflies, songbirds and other creatures use these plants for vital food and shelter.
